As per the reports after the long term discussions, finally it will be decided that all Electronic Voting Machine (EVMs) will be linked with Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines in the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.

As per the senior Election Commission officer, a maximum of 80,000 VVPAT machines will be required in these two states.

In an interview he confirmed that the Commission already has 55,500 VVPAT machines whereas, the order for the rest has already been placed.

He said,”This decision has been taken with regard to the demands made by many political parties for holding all future elections with 100 per cent VVPAT machine-connected EVMs”.

After the allegations of political parties like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on the victory of BJP in Uttar Pradesh elections, all the parties demanded that VVPATs should be used in all future elections.

VVPAT machines were provided in all the polling booths in Goa (40 seats) and 33 of the total 117 constituencies in Punjab in the recently concluded Assembly elections.

So now on Wednesday the cabinet also cleared the allocation of Rs. 3,174 crore for the purchase of the VVPAT machines.

So as per the reports there are 16,15,066 VVPAs will be required for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. So in 2019 Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Haryana will go to polls.

When the Supreme Court suggest to implement the VVPAT machine in 2013, after that the commission has been requesting the fund for a long time and now they also written a letter to the Law minister on March 22.

After heraing about this machine everyone has to know about this too. The first question arises that What is VVPAT machine ?

So VVPAT machines produce a printout of the vote cast using an EVM which is then deposited in a box. It can be used to resolve any dispute regarding the election.

Each VVPAT machine is estimated to cost Rs 19,650. The Election Commission used VVPAT for the first time in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
