The DoT has said that the telecom specialist co-ops are required to change the current 10 digit portable numbers to 13 digits between October 1 and December 31. As indicated by BSNL, by December 2018, old mobile numbers would likewise be refreshed under the procedure.

The telecom circles and boss general administrators of DoTs in the metro cities were informed about the choice in a letter that was sent to them.
