The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that all the talks of his name being in the running for Uttar Pradesh chief minister are futile and unnecessary.

Since the assembly elections results were out there has been a lot of speculation going on about who will be the new chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. BJP with allies won the state election with record 325 seats.

After defence minister Manohar Parrikar resigned and headed to Goa as chief minister, speculations of Rajnath Singh heading to UP became louder.

Also the party would want a candidate who can take along all the communities.
Rajnath Singh has been the CM of UP from October 28, 2000 to March 8, 2002.

The BJP has been considering various names for CM of UP including BJP state chief Keshav Prasad Maurya, Manoj Sinha, Yogi Adityanath and Mahesh Sharma. The party is to decide on the candidate on Wednesday.
