November 19, 2015 Author: Krishna Joshi

Japanese company Sony had done away with launching two flagships in a year It was only in July that Company tested the Xperia Z3+ and it is not even five months since and we have two new flagships from Sony –the Xperia Z5  and the4K display sporting Xperia Z5 Premium.

Sony decided a few years ago to try bi-annual refreshes in order to keep things exciting and hopefully drive up sales.

A few months after release of Xperia Z3+, Sony is out with another top-end model - Xperia Z5. So let us see the Xperia Z5 Here is the all detailed information about the Smartphone..

Xperia Z5 Design

The first thing that you notice about the phone is  the glass back panel has a different finish  frosted glass, allowing Sony to retain glass as the material of construction,This thing attracts you Design of phone with fewer fingerprints on the rear casing when phone is hands on , It packed with the  rectangular design.

Sure there’s nothing wrong with the rectangular design, but Sony could have been more innovative instead of just adding on an engraved Xperia logo on the left hand side.

The Xperia Z5 is slightly thicker and heavier than the Xperia Z3+. Also, the phone has sharp top edges where the display meets the metal frame.

Sony Xperia Z5's edges are flat and attractive, instead of rounded like its siblings'. The corners are covered with nylon to avoid chipping of the metal when it falls. The phone is a tiny bit thicker at 7.3mm and a tad heavier too at 154g.

On the left hand side you have the cap which houses the dual nano SIM card slot and the microSD card slot.

In the front, we have a 5.2-inch full-HD IPS display with scratch-resistant glass. The best major thing about that phone have front-facing 5-megapixel Selfie camera, the usual suite of sensors, and a notification LED in the upper left corner.

About the sound stereo the speakers placed on the top and bottom, facing you But unlike the Xperia Z3+, the Xperia Z5 cannot be immersed in water.

Xperia Z5 Features

The Xperia Z5 diven-by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset having a octa-core processor and Adreno 430 GPU paired with 3GB of RAM and having 32GB storage.

User have anoption to expand the storage to up to 200GB using a microSD card. As we mention above There is  5.2-inch full HD display with scratch-resistant glass and oleophobic coating.

The Xperia Z5 takes in two nano SIM cards which support 4G LTE bands, The E6683 variant sold in India supports LTE for Band 40 and 3 but only up to Category 4 (150Mbps).

The single SIM variant (E6653) supports LTE Category 6 but that hasn't been launched here. This is a bit disappointing since most other Android flagships today support the faster LTE specification.

USB OTG support is present but will only work if you tap 'Detect USB device' in the USB section of the Settings app, else your flash drive won't show up in file managers.

The smartphone have gorgeous camera features The Xperia Z5 uses a 23MP  rear camera sensor which is a bump up from the 20.7MP sensor seen on the Xperia Z3+.

Sony says that the hybrid AF on the camera gives fast focussing speed, which we shall check in the camera section below.

Also the Xperia Z5 sports a 2900mAh battery as opposed to 2930mAh seen on the Xperia Z3+. According to tech sources phone is tested by charging the phone for 30 minutes when the battery was bone-dry.

An interesting addition to the inbuilt apps is the Movie Creator app, which makes short films after you have shot a certain number of photographs/videos. Quite a fun app when you are on a vacation. Long holding onto the home screen will pull up the features such as widgets, wallpapers, themes and other home page settings.

Xperia Z5 Performance

The most catchy change in Sony Xperia Z5 compared to its predecessor is the absence of any heating problem. While Xperia Z3+ shut down several times during the review period, we faced no such issue with the new Sony handset.

It was only while playing resource-intensive games and recording 4K videos for a long period that the smartphone got a little warm.

In terms of sound quality,Incoming notifications and calls are clearly audible and the volume level is loud enough for music or videos, with the earpiece speaker being loud enough. The Xperia skin adds on a lot of bloatware to the device, but thankfully you can uninstall apps which you have no use for.

Smartphone is Multi-tasking smooth on the phone and we did not notice any random app shut down due to heating or slowdown.

While playing the  games did not notice any stuttering, The phone is speedy for most tasks so while using the phone the heat and hang issues are clear .

This was noticeable even in an air-conditioned room and it only got worse when we used the camera or played games outdoors.

Xperia Z5 Display

The attractive IPS LCD display are really good and the adaptive brightness works well but sometimes it tends to over-brighten the dark regions on the display, the smartphone remains easily legible under direct sunlight.

Phone has It's great display to watch movies or play games on. Dive deep inside the Display settings and you get options such as having X-reality or Super Vivid mode for viewing images and videos, smart backlight control, white balance adjustment and so on.

Features like double-tap to wake up screen, glove mode, white balance adjustment, and personalization of toggle buttons are baked into Xperia Z5.

Xperia Z5 Camera

Smartphone comes with many  gorgeous camera features,  Sony uses a 23MP camera with 5X zoom, f/2.0 aperture, and phase detection autofocus in Xperia Z5. The camera captures images at 8MP resolution by default, but you can change it to 20MP or 23MP.

Sony says that we found that the camera is pretty fast to focus, but it's difficult to judge if it is faster than LG G4, which is among the fastest we have seen yet.

Sony has also employed phase-detect auto-focus mechanism with the Xperia Z5 , The camera user interface hasn’t changed much from the previous phones, although we did notice a Sticker mode in addition to the standard Superior auto, Manual, AR effect, 4K video modes and so on.

We found the Sony Xperia Z5 camera to be among the best we have used recently, with great contrast and exposure for the checking quality  we captured few images taken by the Xperia Z5.

VerdictSony Xperia Z5 is a cool smartphone by all measures, offering a decent display, great battery life, smooth performance, good camera, and quality audio in a package that is not too big for the hands.

Overall, Sony has fixed the issues that Xperia Z3+ suffered from with this update, and if your heart is set on it, you will have no troubles using the device. Even if you go purely by specifications, the phone is underwhelming compared to others in its price range and even lower.

Otherwise, there are many cheaper-yet-capable devices to check out, such as Google Nexus 5X and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, One plus  etc.
